As you know Casey has a lot of aggression issues that need to be worked on. We placed him with a wonderful couple that is doing a wonderful job with him. They have experienc with the type of issues Casey has, his Mommy is a vet tech. I get updates from his Mommy and would like to share his progress. I get update via email and Casey sure has come a long way in a year!
1/24/2011 Lori, I am sorry I have not kept in better contact about Casey. It has been a whole year now!!! Can you believe it? Casey is still a poppa's boy. But he of course loves his momma. He still has his moments but when he gets upset I tell him to sit and he will calm down. He now comes to visit guests when they come over. He really likes his Aunt Natasha "my really good friend who will let them out if we r gonna be gone for to long". She has been so surprised that he has warmed up to her. He likes to spend a lot of time alone but he lets you know when he is ready to get attention and you better understand that he means it!! He will overwhelm you with affection when he decides its time.... Most things are on Casey time. He eats mostly kibble now. But will dance when I have snacks for him just the smell of chicken gets him excited. Well just wanted to say thanks again!! I can not imagine life without out little strutter!!! -Laurie 9/18/2010 Lori, Hey thought I would update you on Casey. He is wonderful. It have been 9 months now!!! Crazy huh? He truly is a different dog. He barely every growls any more, usually only when he is startled. We went shopping tonight and when I got home he run up to me jumping up and down for me to pick him up and hold him. He kissed me a million times and then we wrestled on the couch for a bit. He actually will do things with the other dogs now. He will spend time in the yard with them. He never would before. It is awesome. He will eat out of the other dogs bowls and even drink their water. He has decided that eating dog food is okay. Thank you again for him. He is a ham and makes me giggle every day. I am very proud of his progress. I doubt you guys would even recognize him any more, his attitude is so different. He even will come see visitors. -Laurie 7/21/2010 Lori, We bought new furniture, it was delievered today. Casey has picked his spot. He jumped right up on the new chair and claimed it for his own. He is doing great! Still bossy and snotty but lovey. He loves Jeremy so much. He is for sure a pappa's boy! Congratulation Laurie on your promotion!!

3/2/2010 I know the updates have been less frequent, lately. It seems Casey has settled in and not much is happening. I am sure the discovery process with him is no where near complete but changes are more slow now. He is a constant barker, when we are not just sitting around with him. So we are working on that. He loves to just hang out with us on the couch. He really is a cuddle bug. He barks when we are leaving of course, but also when we get home (I am sure to get our attention). He will bark for 30 minutes when I get up in the morning. For really no reason I can understand. Other than maybe attention. So I kind of let him do his thing for a while to get comfortable with us but I have actually started to correct him now. When he is barking I tell him NO and then if that does not work I will take hold of his muzzle and touch his nose and tell him NO. It usually works at least for a few minutes. Also, he has taken to a specific spot in the couch, which is where Jeremy usually sits, Jeremy works at home a lot. Him sitting there is fine except when Jeremy wants to sit down and he snarls and snaps. He was corrected for that the other day and pouted upstairs for the rest of the afternoon. When I say corrected we made him get off the couch and he was not allowed immediately back on like he wanted. SUCH A DRAMA KING!!! What did I expect he is a Pom. Good progress though, he dances when he wants to be held. Ohh and he wants to be held a lot more frequently, and he will dance for u until u pick him up. He plays all the time. He likes when you tell him your gonna get him and then he will run and you chase. He grumbles when you rub his spot (the top of his hind end and tail) he dances then too. He is a brat and likes iced tea...not that I want to share my iced tea but if I am not careful he will sneak over to my glass on the stand and drink it. He has done this on 2 occasions, well that I am aware of. I am more careful now. :) I only fill the cups to where he can't reach the tea, or dont set it down until he can not drink it or is out of the room. I am a sneaky momma. He howled on his own this morning. Not sure why. He was outside and I looked out and saw him, walked away to get something and next thing I know he is on the porch howling at something in the back yard. None of the other dogs were howling (he will howl with them) nothing unusual outside that i could tell. I guess he just wanted to sing.
2/25/2010 Thanks for the page for Casey! He is now a celebrity. I know we are going on almost 2 weeks without an update, sorry. We learned Casey knows how to shake, and will switch paws on command. This morning he did the cutest thing, he was asleep on the couch when I go up around 5am, I walked over towards him he stood up and and reached out for me and stretched, with both his front paws on my stomach.

2/9/2010 So Sunday was a month! We love him to death. He is very bratty still but wonderful all at the same time. He is laying with his back foot on my shoulder as I write this. We were justing kissing and now it is nap time. He has his moods, but he also seems to be very attached to us. He seems to like Nora. He was sleeping on the couch with her the other day. He gets just as annoyed with Tanner as Jeremy and I do... It is kind of funny. He howls with the other dogs. It is hillarious!!! So he understands his is part of the pack. He also gets very mouthy if Jeremy or I are correcting one of the other dogs, like if we tell someone to get down he gets all mad like we are telling him and he snarls. We are just taking it one step at a time.
2/1/2010 This week Casey went to work with me and was very behaved. He took to sleeping on the reception chair. We were closed cause Dr Black was gone so he helped me clean and do other things. Jeremy took him to Petsmart yesterday and said he did great until they stopped at sheetz and a big dog scared him. Then he refused to get out of Jeremys seat and snarled. I have been horribly ill since Friday I have spent most of my time laying around. I think Casey knew I was not feeling good and he spent most of Saturday cuddle bugging and playing with me on the couch. He has changed so much just in these first 3 weeks.. He tells me when he wants fed and needs to go out by showing me. He jumps at the kitchen counter when he wants his wet Laurie

1/12/2010 Hey Lori this pic was last night. Cookie is actually in the photo too just since her and spike are both white they blend together... Well and the white blanket they r laying on doesn't help. Plus I took it with my phone. I just got home from work a minute ago and he came running across the back of the couch tail a wagging to give me kisses. I think he likes it here :) talk to u soon  |
