 Welcome To Casey's Page

Casey hanging out on the back of the couch relaxing

As you know Casey has a lot of aggression issues that need to be worked on. We placed him with a wonderful couple that is doing a wonderful job with him. They have experienc with the type of issues Casey has, his Mommy is a vet tech. I get weekly updates from his new Mommy and would like to share his progress.

Lori,
Hey it has been a while, sorry. So Casey made huge steps forward this weekend. We went to PetsMart to get some stuff, decided Casey and his new little sis should go. Yeah, we ended up with a 7 month old chihuahua named Rosalita. The people who had her said their landlord told them they had to get rid of her, but then the man said that he would keep her if she was housebroken. So really not sure what the story is there. Anyways, we go to PetsMart and Casey is the king. He trots around like he knows exactly what he is doing and was on a mission. We get to the toy aisle and he picks out a pig shaped ball. It's a ball with a pig ears, tail, and a snout. He loves this toy. He can catch and plays tug of war with it. So while we are there people stop and want to pet him. He walks right over to them and struts for butt rubs. Then we are in line and some little girl starts playing with him and he starts kissing her. I was such a proud momma. Casey is not sure what to think of Rosa just yet. As I have learned with Casey everything takes a little more time. Ohhh well it is just who he is. But I am so proud of how he acted at PetsMart, I had to share.

Hey sorry about the long delay in updating. Casey is good. Jeremy compares him to a grumpy old man all the time. He has ups and downs. Last week he was in a bad mood. Unsure why but he did not want to be around us very much. This week he is back to normal. I thought maybe he had gotten hurt or something so I muzzled him and checked him over (trimmed his nails while I was at it) he was fine.  Then just snap he was back to normal. Now I can not get him to stop kissing me!!! he is bossy as all heck and if dinner is even a minute late he is in a bad mood. I just told Jeremy that I was writing a "Casey update" and Casey thought I was calling him and had to give me kisses :) Now he is demanding that Jeremy come get him off the couch and either let him out or give him a drink, of course he always can get a drink himself but he wants you to take him and fill his little bowl in the kitchen. I never thought that something weighing 10 lbs would be the boss of me :) but thats what you get when you adopt a Pom.

He likes when you sing to him. Well he kisses you when you do. So either he likes it or he kisses you to get you to shut up! We had a 4 year old male Pom that came in the other day someone had just rescued and he looked very much like Casey. We are talking about shaving the C dog for the summer now. Kind of scared to take him anywhere to have it done. So I may just do it myself (but I am not a groomer in any way) I know how to do lion cuts on cats so if Casey looks like a cat when I am done I do apologize. When we do it I will send pics.

So he is demanding to be let back in now. Jeremy is ignoring him... I better do it. Bossy little brat! Saw Smokey got a home! Yay!!!! I am so glad. Hope he and all the others are well. You guys are awesome.

I know the updates have been less frequent, lately. It seems Casey has settled in and not much is happening. I am sure the discovery process with him is no where near complete but changes are more slow now. He is a constant barker, when we are not just sitting around with him. So we are working on that. He loves to just hang out with us on the couch. He really is a cuddle bug. He barks when we are leaving of course, but also when we get home (I am sure to get our attention). He will bark for 30 minutes when I get up in the morning. For really no reason I can understand. Other than maybe attention. So I kind of let him do his thing  for a while to get comfortable with us but I have actually started to correct him now. When he is barking I tell him NO and then if that does not work I will take hold of his muzzle and touch his nose and tell him NO. It usually works at least for a few minutes.

Also, he has taken to a specific spot in the couch, which is where Jeremy usually sits, Jeremy works at home a lot. Him sitting there is fine except when Jeremy wants to sit down and he snarls and snaps. He was corrected for that the other day and pouted upstairs for the rest of the afternoon. When I say corrected we made him get off the couch and he was not allowed immediately back on like he wanted. SUCH A DRAMA KING!!!  What did I expect he is a Pom.

Good progress though, he dances when he wants to be held. Ohh and he wants to be held a lot more frequently, and he will dance for u until u pick him up. He plays all the time. He likes when you tell him your gonna get him and then he will run and you chase. He grumbles when you rub his spot (the top of his hind end and tail) he dances then too. He is a brat and  likes iced tea...not that I want to share my iced tea but if I am not careful he will sneak over to my glass on the stand and drink it. He has done this on 2 occasions, well that I am aware of. I am more careful now. :) I only fill the cups to where he can't reach the tea, or dont set it down until he can not drink it or is out of the room. I am a sneaky momma.

He howled on his own this morning. Not sure why. He was outside and I looked out and saw him, walked away to get something and next thing I know he is on the porch howling at something in the back yard. None of the other dogs were howling (he will howl with them) nothing unusual outside that i could tell. I guess he just wanted to sing.

So thats all I really have for now. He is a good boy! I think he trusts us now.

Thanks for the page for Casey! He is now a celebrity. I know we are going on almost 2 weeks without an update, sorry. We learned Casey knows how to shake, and will switch paws on command.  This morning he did the cutest thing, he was asleep on the couch when I go up around 5am, I walked over towards him he stood up and and reached out for me and stretched, with both his front paws on my stomach.

He is coming along more and more everyday. Right now he is passed out on Jeremy's lap. He also Pom struts on command and grumbles when you scratch his back. He smiles and loves to have me chase him up the stairs. He will give you his belly for belly lovings.

He is not snapping really at all anymore. He will snarl when he is in his moods. But really I just tend laugh at him, when he does. He knows who daddy and mommy are. At least he recognizes when I tell him to get poppa
.

He is just full of love and life. Health wise he seems to be in great shape.

Lori,

Casey is doing great! What a difference just a week makes. He has pretty much stopped snarling at us, once an a while but nothing like before. Him and Rudi were cuddled up on the couch last night. He likes to help me get ready in the morning, he comes in the bathroom and watches intently and i do my hair and makeup. Then me and him go get a drink (his special little bowl.. he cant be bothered to drink from the same as the other dogs) and he goes out to potty.  Jeremy has started calling him the princess though, cause he only likes to sit in very certain places, and of course I baby him. I think Casey likes it cause everytime Jeremy says it he kisses Jeremy. He also kisses everytime you call him a good boy! I saw Mugs and got a home his pic is adorable. I am keeping my fingers crossed for Smokey. He would be a great companion for an older couple. Hope his hydration issues have cleared up some.

Take Care.. I will take pictures soon.

So Sunday was a month!  We love him to death. He is very bratty still but wonderful all at the same time. He is laying with his back foot on my shoulder as I write this. We were justing kissing and now it is nap time. He has his moods, but he also seems to be very attached to us. He seems to like Nora. He was sleeping on the couch with her the other day. He gets just as annoyed with Tanner as Jeremy and I do... It is kind of funny. He howls with the other dogs. It is hillarious!!! So he understands his is part of the pack. He also gets very mouthy if Jeremy or I are correcting one of the other dogs, like if we tell someone to get down he gets all mad like we are telling him and he snarls. We are just taking it one step at a time.

He will be all mad at us then snuggle up five seconds later. So I do not understand that, but I think it will just come with time.  Casey does what Casey wants when Casey wants it and not one second earlier. He will learn the routine sooner or later. I just love him though. Overall, he is a great boy, just has some problems.

Thank you so much for saving him.

This week Casey went to work with me and was very behaved. He took to sleeping on the reception chair. We were closed cause Dr Black was gone so he helped me clean and do other things. Jeremy took him to Petsmart yesterday and said he did great until they stopped at sheetz and a big dog scared him. Then he refused to get out of Jeremys seat and snarled. I have been horribly ill since Friday I have spent most of my time laying around. I think Casey knew I was not feeling good and he spent most of Saturday cuddle bugging and playing with me on the couch.

He has changed so much just in these first 3 weeks.. He tells me when he wants fed and needs to go out by showing me. He jumps at the kitchen counter when he wants his wet
Food and the door to pee. Only thing now is he thinks when we put our shoes on he gets to go. So we argue a little about it. He is a little ham!

Lori,
Wanted to give you an update. So it has been two weeks now. Casey is well.  Last night and today were the worst with him. He was upset about something, not sure what. I think it may be that I would not let him eat cat food last night. But as I told Robert on Friday, he is for sure showing improvement. Until last night he really had stopped growling and snarling at us. He comes when called for the most part now. He has accidents rarely in the house, but mostly I think it is because sometimes he gives signs and I do not realize what he wants. If I ask what he wants he usually will show me. He is getting better with not being scared of the other dogs. He seems to have warmed up to Nora the most. He stepped on her last night and she did not even care. Saturday he jumped on the couch with Jeremy and wanted to wresle then cuddled up and went to sleep with him for about 45 minutes. He sleeps with us in bed much to the Kitties dismay. He runs to the top of the stairs and sticks his head threw the banister and waits for me to walk up the stairs and kisses me nonstop. We love him to death. Still needs some work, but he has for sure become part of the family. :) Thanks for rescuing him for us!

Ohh btw Mugsy and Pugs are hillarious!!! I love them. I hope they find a home soon, hopefully someone would take them both. I can only imagine the crazy that is your house with all those puppies right now. Smokey is sweet little man too. If you need anything let me know.
