Animal Flipping

Animal  flippers – people who misrepresent themselves and their motives in the process of obtaining an animal from an individual or a family. Then turn around and sell the dog for a profit.

Flippers use many sources to get the word out about the animal they want to sell, most common is news paper ads or Craig's List. Don't get me wrong not every person or rescue who is on Craig's list is out to flip an animal, so do your homework and check the person or recscue out that is taking your animal.

You should get answers to the following questions when surrendering your animal to a rescue:

-How are the animals in the rescue’s care housed and cared for?

-Do the animals receive veterinary care, vaccinations, and spay/neuter surgeries?

-Is there an adoption application process?  Legitimate rescues are interested in matching adopters and dogs for life, not off-loading animals to whoever will take them.

-Does the rescue group want to hear from the adopter after the adoption and will the rescue take the animal back in the event that things don’t go well? Sometimes animals are returned to rescues  due to different reasons.

-Can you contact the rescue’s veterinarian and will the rescue provide you with basic documentation of medical care the animal received while in the rescue group's care?

A good rescue won’t ask you to meet them in a parking lot or flea market to select a puppy and take it home.

It should be no problem for a legitimate rescue group to provide you with satisfactory answers to these questions.
